PIERO DELLA FRANCESCA: AN ABSOLUTE LEGEND
Forli’, 13th February – 26th June 2016
What do Paolo Uccelli, Balthus, Edward Hopper and Piero della Francesca have in common? The answer is not immediate and it is not enough to follow the path of Piero della Francesca between Umbria, Tuscany, Emilia Romagna and Marche. It is indeed essential to visit the art exhibition which is held in Forlì. It will be a valuable experience in order to better understand the greatness of this artist and how he influences his contemporaries.
It will be possible to admire great pieces of art, such as Our Lady of Mercy (Museo Civico di San Sepulchre), Apollonia, from the National Gallery of Art in Washington, Saint Jerome and a devotee from the Gallerie dell’Accademia in Venice and the Madonna and Child found ten years ago in a private collection.
The 250 works presented include the works of artists who contributed to the formation of Piero della Francesca, such as Beato Angelico, Paolo Uccello and Andrea del Castagno, Carra de Chiricho, and works painted by foreign artists who were inspired by him . An exhibition that alone would be worth the trip to this pleasant city.
